Porsche 911 Bolt Pattern by Generation: 5x130 on the 930, 964, 993, 996, 997, 991 and 992

The Porsche 911 bolt pattern is 5x130 on every lug-bolt car from the 930 to the current 992, with a 71.6 mm center bore and an M14x1.5 thread. Only the center-lock variants break the rule, and they use one central nut instead of five fasteners. This guide lists the Porsche 911 bolt pattern generation by generation, shows where the hardware changed, and explains how to check your own car before you order wheels.
Porsche 911 Bolt Pattern by Generation
Every Porsche 911 from the 930 to the 992 uses a 5x130 bolt pattern with an M14x1.5 thread and a 71.6 mm center bore on lug-fastener cars. The exceptions are the center-lock wheels on selected 997, 991 and 992 variants, which use a single central nut instead of five fasteners.
| Generation | Approx. model years | Bolt pattern | Center bore | Fasteners | Center-lock variants |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 930 | 1975-1989 | 5x130 | 71.6 mm | Studs and nuts, M14x1.5 | None |
| 964 | 1989-1994 | 5x130 | 71.6 mm | Studs and nuts, M14x1.5 (sources differ on late cars) | None |
| 993 | 1995-1998 | 5x130 | 71.6 mm | Studs and nuts, M14x1.5 | None |
| 996 | 1999-2005 | 5x130 | 71.6 mm | Lug bolts, M14x1.5 | None |
| 997 | 2005-2012 | 5x130 | 71.6 mm | Lug bolts, M14x1.5 | Some GT3, GT2 and Turbo cars |
| 991 | 2012-2019 | 5x130 | 71.6 mm | Lug bolts, M14x1.5 | Some GTS, Turbo, GT3 and GT2 RS cars |
| 992 | 2020-present | 5x130 | 71.6 mm | Lug bolts, M14x1.5 | Some GTS, Turbo and GT3 cars |
We cross-checked every row against our own fitment database and independent data: cararac.com lists 5x130 and M14x1.5 for every 911 generation, and wheel-sizes.com gives the hub bore. Model years are approximate and shift by market, so read the 911 model history if your build date is close to a changeover.
Does the Porsche 911 Bolt Pattern Change Between Generations?
No. The Porsche 911 bolt pattern stayed at 5x130 from the 930 through to the 992, so the pattern alone never rules a wheel in or out. What does change is the hardware that holds the wheel on.

On a 930, 964 or 993, the wheel sits on five studs and is held by nuts. Our 930 Turbo fitment page and our 964 Speedster page both list 5x130 with a 71.6 mm center bore. For a classic car like this, a gunmetal machined five-spoke forged wheel keeps the period look while using the same 5x130 pattern.

The switch to lug bolts came with the water-cooled 996. Two sources agree that studs and nuts ended with the 993 and bolts took over from 1999. Sources disagree about late 964s, so look at the car before you buy hardware.

If you own a 996, the 996 Carrera 4S fitment page shows the same 5x130 pattern. A bronze two-piece five-spoke forged wheel suits the multi-spoke look of that era.
997, 991 and 992: 5x130 Stays, Center-Lock Arrives
The 997, 991 and 992 keep the Porsche 911 bolt pattern of 5x130 on their lug-bolt cars, and the center-lock option is the only real change. Standard Carreras stay on five bolts. The sporty variants can use a single center nut instead.

For the 997, the 911 Carrera S fitment page lists a 71.6 mm center bore, in line with the sources above. The 991 is the same story: see the 911 GTS page for a 991-era example.

On the current 992, the 911 Carrera fitment page covers the 2020-2025 cars. For 991 and 992 Carreras, a matte bronze double-spoke forged wheel is built for the same 5-lug fitment.

Center-lock wheels do not follow the 5x130 pattern at all. Sources list center-lock on selected GT3, GT3 RS, GT2 RS, Turbo and some GTS cars, and our 911 R page lists a center-lock hub too. Which exact variants have it varies by source, so count the fasteners on your own wheel. Porsche 911 Center Bore: 71.6 mm or 71.5 mm?
The Porsche 911 center bore is 71.6 mm on every lug-bolt generation in our database and in the fitment guides we checked. One data site, wheel-sizes.com, lists 71.5 mm for 1999-2013 cars and 71.6 mm for 2014-2022. A 0.1 mm gap is a rounding difference, but it is worth measuring the hub with calipers before you order.
A wheel bored larger than 71.6 mm needs a hub-centric ring so the hub carries the load, not the bolts. The wall thickness of the ring is half the difference between the two diameters, which is why a few common bores need very thin rings:
| Wheel center bore | Hub ring inner diameter | Ring wall thickness |
|---|---|---|
| 72.6 mm | 71.6 mm | 0.50 mm |
| 73.1 mm | 71.6 mm | 0.75 mm |
| 74.1 mm | 71.6 mm | 1.25 mm |
We explain why this matters in our guide to hub-centric vs lug-centric wheels. Ordering a wheel bored to 71.6 mm avoids the ring altogether.

Which Other Porsche Models Share the 5x130 Pattern?
The Porsche 911 bolt pattern is shared with the Boxster, Cayman, Cayenne and Panamera, all 5x130 with a 71.6 mm center bore, which is why one wheel design often appears across several Porsche lines. The Macan is the exception at 5x112.
| Model | Bolt pattern | Center bore | Our fitment page |
|---|---|---|---|
| 911 | 5x130 | 71.6 mm | 911 Carrera |
| Boxster and Cayman (718) | 5x130 | 71.6 mm | 718 Cayman |
| Cayenne | 5x130 | 71.6 mm | Cayenne |
| Panamera | 5x130 | 71.6 mm | Panamera |
| Macan | 5x112 | see fitment page | Macan S |
A shared pattern does not mean a shared fit. Offset, width and brake clearance differ between a Cayenne and a 911, so do not swap wheels between models without checking. Browse all 5x130 options on our 5x130 wheel fitment page.
How to Check Your 911 Before Ordering Wheels
To confirm the Porsche 911 bolt pattern on your own car, check four things in this order and you will avoid the usual fitment mistakes:
- Count the fasteners: five bolts or nuts means 5x130, and one central nut means center-lock.
- Look at the fastener type: studs and nuts on a 993 or earlier, bolts on a 996 or later.
- Measure the hub bore with calipers and compare it with 71.6 mm.
- Read the offset stamped on the back of your current wheel, then test new sizes with our offset and backspacing calculator.
Our forged wheel fitment verification checklist walks through the rest. If you also own another German performance car, our guides to the BMW M bolt pattern and the Audi RS3 bolt pattern cover the same ground.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the bolt pattern on a Porsche 911?
The Porsche 911 bolt pattern is 5x130, meaning five lugs on a 130 mm circle. It applies to every generation from the 930 to the 992, except the center-lock wheels on selected variants.
Do all Porsche 911 generations use 5x130?

What is the center bore of a Porsche 911 wheel?
It is 71.6 mm on lug-bolt cars. One data site lists 71.5 mm for 1999-2013 cars, so measure your hub if you are ordering a wheel with a tight bore.
What thread size do 911 wheel bolts use?
Two sources list M14x1.5 for every 911 generation. Cars up to the 993 use studs and nuts, and the 996 and later use lug bolts.
Can Boxster, Cayman or Cayenne wheels fit a 911?
They share the 5x130 pattern and a 71.6 mm center bore, but offset, width and brake clearance differ. Confirm those before fitting wheels from another model.
