Audi RS3 Bolt Pattern and A3/S3 Specs by Generation: 8L, 8P, 8V, 8Y

The Audi RS3 bolt pattern is 5x112 with a 57.1 mm center bore, and the same two numbers apply to every A3, S3 and RS3 from the 8P generation onward. The one exception is the first-generation A3 (8L), which uses a 5x100 bolt pattern on the same 57.1 mm hub. This guide lays out the specs generation by generation, then shows why the 8Y RS3 needs more care than any other model in the family.
Audi RS3 Bolt Pattern and Center Bore at a Glance
Every Audi A3, S3 and RS3 from the 8P generation on uses a 5x112 bolt pattern, a 57.1 mm center bore and an M14x1.5 wheel thread, while only the first-generation 8L A3 differs, with a 5x100 pattern on the same hub. Width and offset change by trim, so the table lists only the factory sizes that at least two sources agree on.
| Generation | Models | Bolt pattern | Center bore | Thread | Factory size we could confirm |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8L (1996-2003) | A3 | 5x100 | 57.1 mm | M14x1.5 | 15x6J |
| 8P (from 2003) | A3 | 5x112 | 57.1 mm | M14x1.5 | 17x7.5J |
| 8V (2013-2020) | A3, S3, RS3 | 5x112 | 57.1 mm | M14x1.5 | A3 17x7.5J, S3 18x8J |
| 8Y (current) | A3, S3, RS3 | 5x112 | 57.1 mm | M14x1.5 | RS3 front 19x9J, rear 19x8J |
The Audi RS3 bolt pattern and center bore were cross-checked against our own Audi RS3 fitment page and two independent wheel-data references, including the S3 hub bore table at wheel-sizes.com. For the full list of 5x112 vehicles, see our 5x112 bolt pattern guide.
Which Audi A3 Generation Uses 5x100 and Which Uses 5x112?
The 8L A3 is the only generation on 5x100; the 8P that replaced it moved to 5x112. Because the center bore stayed at 57.1 mm, a 5x100 wheel can look like a perfect fit on a later car, even though the bolt holes will not line up.

A 5x100 wheel and a 5x112 wheel are easy to mix up on older A3s. If you own a 1996-2003 car, use our A3 5-door fitment page and the 5x100 bolt pattern page. If your car is a 2003-on 8P, the numbers on the A3 3-door fitment page apply instead.

A3, S3 and RS3 8V: Same Hub, Different Wheel Sizes
On the 8V, the hub is identical across A3, S3 and RS3, so the Audi RS3 bolt pattern is shared with the A3 and S3; width and offset are what separate the trims. The A3 commonly rolls on 17x7.5J, while the S3 is listed with 18x8J on our own page and with 8Jx18 on the wheel-size.com S3 8V entry.

Our S3 fitment page and A3 fitment page hold the reference ranges. Where sources disagree on the exact offset, we do not guess: read the ET number stamped on the back of your original wheel and use that as the starting point.
Two forged options built for this platform are a matte silver 5 Y-spoke monoblock for the A3 and a chrome 5 split Y-spoke concave wheel for the S3.
RS3 8Y Offset: Why Front and Rear Wheels Are Different
The 8Y RS3 uses a reverse-staggered setup: a 9Jx19 ET25 wheel in front and an 8Jx19 ET46 wheel at the rear. That is the factory spec on the 5x112 hub, and it means the front axle and rear axle cannot share a single wheel design as-is.

We calculated where each wheel sits relative to the hub face, using nominal rim width and ignoring the rim flanges.
| 8Y RS3 axle | Wheel | Tire | Inner edge from hub face | Outer edge from hub face |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Front | 19x9J ET25 | 265/30 R19 | 139.3 mm | 89.3 mm |
| Rear | 19x8J ET46 | 245/35 R19 | 147.6 mm | 55.6 mm |
Two things stand out. The front wheel's outer edge sits 33.7 mm further out than the rear, even though the offset difference is only 21 mm. And the front inner edge is 8.3 mm closer to the hub, which is worth checking against brake and suspension clearance. That is why you should pick offsets by working out edge positions per axle, never by copying the front ET to all four corners.
If you want a square setup on the 8Y RS3, the extra 33.7 mm of front protrusion is the number to design around. Our offset and backspacing guide explains the same calculation step by step. For RS3 and RS5 wheels with the Audi ring center cap, look at this Audi OEM-style 2-piece twin 5-spoke wheel and this matte silver 6-spoke forged wheel.
How to Check Fitment Before Ordering Forged Wheels
Confirm five things before you order: generation code, Audi RS3 bolt pattern (or the A3 and S3 equivalent), hub bore, width and offset, and brake clearance. Our forged wheel fitment verification checklist covers the full process. For Audi, the steps are:
- Find your generation code (8L, 8P, 8V or 8Y) and trim, since the 8L is the only 5x100 car.
- Confirm the 5x112 pattern and a 57.1 mm hub bore, and no centering ring is needed when the wheel bore is also 57.1 mm.
- Read the width and ET stamped on your original wheel, and check the 8Y RS3 front and rear separately.
- Check the wheel thread against the M14x1.5 spec, and follow the tightening torque in your owner's manual.
- Measure caliper and rotor clearance, especially on S3 and RS3 brake packages.
Our engineers will review these details if you send them through the contact page. Include your generation code, trim, brake size and target tire size, and we will propose an offset and width range for your car.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Audi RS3 bolt pattern?
The Audi RS3 bolt pattern is 5x112, with a 57.1 mm center bore and an M14x1.5 thread. This applies to both the 8V and the 8Y RS3.
What is the center bore of an Audi A3?
The center bore is 57.1 mm on every A3 generation from 8L through 8Y. Only the bolt pattern changes, from 5x100 on the 8L to 5x112 from the 8P onward.
Do Audi A3 and S3 wheels fit the RS3?
The bolt pattern and center bore match on the 8P, 8V and 8Y, so the wheel will mount. Whether it fits properly depends on width, offset and brake clearance, and the 8Y RS3 has a reverse-staggered factory setup that other trims do not share.
Is the Audi S3 5x112 or 5x100?
The S3 model years listed in the wheel-data reference we checked, 2015 through 2023, all use 5x112. Only the early 8L A3 uses 5x100.
What offset does the 8Y RS3 use?
The factory 8Y RS3 uses a 9Jx19 ET25 front wheel and an 8Jx19 ET46 rear wheel. Check the ET stamped inside your wheel before you order.
