From our Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y fitment guides. Bolt pattern and centre bore are checked against at least two independent references.

Will Tesla Model 3 wheels fit a Tesla Model Y?

Yes, with checks. Both cars use 5x114.3 with a 64.1 mm centre bore, so the wheel bolts on and centres on the hub exactly as on the original car. Position: the factory Tesla Model 3 wheel (18x8.5 ET38) sits 6 mm further in at the outer edge and 20 mm further from the suspension at the inner edge, compared with the factory Tesla Model Y wheel (19x9.5 ET45). The Tesla Model 3 factory wheel is smaller in diameter (18 inch) than the Tesla Model Y wheel (19 inch), so check that it clears the Tesla Model Y brake calipers.

Will Tesla Model Y wheels fit a Tesla Model 3?

Yes, with checks. Both cars use 5x114.3 with a 64.1 mm centre bore, so the wheel bolts on and centres on the hub exactly as on the original car. Position: the factory Tesla Model Y wheel (19x9.5 ET45) sits 6 mm further out at the outer edge and 20 mm closer to the suspension at the inner edge, compared with the factory Tesla Model 3 wheel (18x8.5 ET38). A change above about 10 mm is worth checking against the fenders, tyre size and suspension before driving.

Before you swap wheels

  • Fit one wheel first and turn the steering lock to lock to check the inner edge against the suspension and the outer edge against the fender.
  • Check that the spokes clear the brake caliper by at least 3 mm.
  • Keep the overall tyre diameter within about 3% of factory so the speedometer and stability systems read correctly.
  • Check that the load rating of the wheel covers the heavier car; wheels from a lighter model may be rated too low.
  • Torque the lug nuts or bolts to the value for the car you are fitting them to.

Compare any two wheel sizes with our offset and backspacing calculator. If the swap does not work, we forge wheels to the exact bolt pattern, bore and offset of your car from $220 per wheel; ask for a quote.
