ANKUSI Engineering Expert Advice

The Scion iQ's factory wheel spec reflects a deliberate balance between comfort, steering feel and durability that the engineering team tuned for. Forging lets ANKUSI match that same strength target while trimming rotational mass — the part of a wheel upgrade that actually changes how the car drives, not just how it looks.

The Scion iQ runs a 4x100 bolt pattern, 54.1mm center bore, and a 16x5.0J, front and rear, wheel from the factory. Our Flush Fitment reference is 17x7.0J ET45, which tucks the tire under the fender lip on a stock-height Scion iQ. Our Maximum Aggressive reference is 17x7.0J ET35 — beyond that offset, expect rubbing against the inner fender liner under compression without further trimming.

Scion iQ OE Wheel Specs

The 2011-2012 Scion iQ (Microcar) uses a 4x100 bolt pattern with a 54.1mm center bore. Factory wheels are 16x5.0J F/R.

Why the factory spec works for most owners:

  • Balances ride comfort with everyday drivability
  • A commonly used size for this vehicle class, supporting parts and tire availability
  • Maintains clearance for the factory suspension and brake components
  • Provides stable, predictable handling across normal driving conditions

ANKUSI builds these wheels — we are the forging factory, not a reseller. For the Scion iQ (2011-2012) we drill the 4x100 pattern and cut the centre bore to 54.1mm on our own CNC line, so the wheel hub-centres on the car with no spacer rings, in whatever diameter, width and offset you specify.

Flush Fitment

For a flush look, F/R 17x7.0J ET45 is a commonly used starting point — clearance must be verified on a stock or mildly lowered Scion iQ.

Maximum Aggressive Fitment

F/R 17x7.0J ET35 is a more aggressive reference setup. Beyond this, expect rubbing under compression without fender rolling or camber correction.

2
What's your budget? Under $800 → Tier A. $800-3,400 → Tier B/C. $3,400+ → Tier D/E.
3
How much does fuel economy matter? Very important → Tier A. Somewhat important → Tier B/C. Not a priority → Tier D/E.
4
Still unsure? Tier C (Balanced / Flush Fit) is the default choice for most Scion iQ owners.

Offset & Backspacing Reference

Backspacing is calculated as wheel width (in) ÷ 2 + offset (mm) ÷ 25.4 + 0.5 (flange allowance):

  • OE: 16x5.0J ET45 → ~4.77″ backspacing
  • Flush: 17x7.0J ET45 → ~5.77″ backspacing
  • Max: 17x7.0J ET35 → ~5.38″ backspacing

A Note on Clearance

Final clearance depends on the exact tire model, suspension height, brake package, alignment and vehicle tolerances. A physical test fit is recommended before production.

Custom Forged Wheels for the Scion iQ (2011-2012)

Everything above is reference data. If you want wheels actually built to it, that is what ANKUSI does: we are a forged wheel factory in Guangzhou, China, IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 certified, forging on our own 10,000-ton press and producing over 120,000 wheels a year. Forging blank, CNC machining, finishing, coating and inspection all happen in the same building — nothing is subcontracted and nothing is relabelled from another manufacturer.

Every set is cut to order, so the 4x100 pattern and the 54.1mm centre bore are machined for this car specifically rather than shimmed with adaptor rings. Diameter, width, offset, concavity, monoblock or multi-piece construction and the finish are all yours to choose — most Scion orders on this platform land somewhere between the 17x7.0J ET45 flush setup and the 17x7.0J ET35 aggressive setup referenced above.

We do not hold 4x100 wheels on a shelf — they are forged to order, which is why any offset, width and bore combination on this page is buildable rather than limited to a stock list.

Frequently Asked Questions

What bolt pattern (PCD) does the Scion iQ use?
The 2011-2012 Scion iQ uses a 4x100 bolt pattern.
How many lug bolts does the Scion iQ use?
The Scion iQ uses a 4-lug bolt pattern (4x100), so you need a 4-lug forged wheel to bolt straight on.
What is the center bore size on the Scion iQ?
The Scion iQ's center bore is 54.1mm. If an aftermarket wheel has a larger center bore than this, hub-centric rings are recommended so the wheel centers on the hub itself rather than relying on the lug bolts alone.
What size are the factory (stock) wheels on the Scion iQ?
Factory wheels on the Scion iQ are 16x5.0J F/R.
What is the biggest wheel size I can fit on my Scion iQ without rubbing?
The most aggressive fitment we recommend without fender work is 17x7.0J at ET35 offset. Going beyond this typically causes rubbing under compression unless you roll the fenders or add camber correction.
What does a flush wheel fitment look like on the Scion iQ?
For a flush look with minimal to no rubbing, we recommend 17x7.0J at ET45 offset as a starting point on a stock or mildly lowered Scion iQ.
Do I need wheel spacers for my Scion iQ?
No. ANKUSI forges each wheel to your exact target offset, including the flush or max specs above, so you get the correct fitment without stacking spacers. Spacers are typically only used to push out an existing OE-offset wheel without replacing it, which isn't necessary when you're ordering a custom-offset forged wheel.
How do I calculate wheel backspacing for my Scion iQ?
Backspacing (in inches) = wheel width (in) ÷ 2 + offset (mm) ÷ 25.4 + 0.5 (flange allowance). For example, the flush spec above works out to roughly 5.77" of backspacing.
What's the difference between wheel offset and backspacing?
Offset is the distance in millimeters from the wheel's true centerline to its mounting face (positive offset pulls the wheel in, negative pushes it out). Backspacing is the distance in inches from the mounting face to the back edge of the wheel barrel. They describe the same fitment from two different reference points, which is why ANKUSI lists both above — some shops and tuning guides quote offset, others quote backspacing.
Can I run staggered wheels (different sizes front and rear) on my Scion iQ?
The Scion iQ runs the same wheel size front and rear from the factory, so staggered fitment is not required. ANKUSI can still forge a staggered set (wider rear) on request if you want a more aggressive stance.

Vehicles With the Same Hub as the Scion iQ (4x100, 54.1 mm Bore)

In our database, 154 other vehicle entries from 22 makes use exactly the same 4x100 bolt pattern and 54.1 mm center bore. Factory wheels from these cars bolt on and center on the hub without rings; offset and width still have to be checked.

4x100 is used by 6.9% of the vehicle pages in our English fitment guide (451 of 6,503); 34.4% of those also use a 54.1 mm center bore.

Offset and Backspacing: Factory Wheel vs Options

Backspacing ≈ width/2 + ET/25.4 + 0.5 in. "Inward" means closer to the suspension; "outward" means closer to the fender lip.

Hub-Centric Rings for a 54.1 mm Center Bore

A wheel with a center bore larger than 54.1 mm needs a hub-centric ring. The most common combinations:

Wheel boreRing size
56.1 mm56.1 → 54.1 mm
57.1 mm57.1 → 54.1 mm
60.1 mm60.1 → 54.1 mm
63.4 mm63.4 → 54.1 mm
73.1 mm73.1 → 54.1 mm

ANKUSI forged wheels are bored to exactly 54.1 mm for this vehicle, so no ring is needed.
