ANKUSI Engineering Expert Advice

On a compact performance platform, every pound of rotational mass fights the car's natural agility. A forged wheel keeps strength at the factory-rated level while cutting that rotational weight, which is where the driving-feel improvement actually comes from.

The Mini E runs a 4x100 bolt pattern, 56.5mm center bore, and a 16x6.5J at ET42, front and rear, wheel from the factory. Our Flush Fitment reference is 17x7.5J ET38, which tucks the tire under the fender lip on a stock-height Mini E. Our Maximum Aggressive reference is 18x8J ET35 — beyond that offset, expect rubbing against the inner fender liner under compression without further trimming.

Mini E OE Wheel Specs

The 2010 Mini E (EV Hatchback) uses a 4x100 bolt pattern with a 56.5mm center bore. Factory wheels are 16x6.5J at ET42.

Why the factory spec works for most owners:

  • Balances ride comfort with everyday fuel efficiency
  • A widely used size in this segment, so tire and wheel availability stays strong
  • Keeps unsprung weight low for stable, predictable handling
  • Maintains clearance for the factory brake calipers and suspension components

ANKUSI builds these wheels — we are the forging factory, not a reseller. For the Mini E (2010) we drill the 4x100 pattern and cut the centre bore to 56.5mm on our own CNC line, so the wheel hub-centres on the car with no spacer rings, in whatever diameter, width and offset you specify.

Decision Guide

1
What's your primary use? Daily commuting → Tier A/B. Weekend street driving → Tier B/C. Show or occasional track use → Tier D/E.
2
What's your budget? Under $800 → Tier A. $800-3,400 → Tier B/C. $3,400+ → Tier D/E.
3
How much does fuel economy matter? Very important → Tier A. Somewhat important → Tier B/C. Not a priority → Tier D/E.
4
Still unsure? Tier C (Balanced / Flush Fit) is the default choice for most Mini E owners.

Offset & Backspacing Reference

Backspacing is calculated as wheel width (in) ÷ 2 + offset (mm) ÷ 25.4 + 0.5 (flange allowance):

  • OE: 16x6.5J ET42 → ~5.4″ backspacing
  • Flush: 17x7.5J ET38 → ~5.75″ backspacing
  • Max: 18x8J ET35 → ~5.88″ backspacing

A Note on Clearance

Final clearance depends on the exact tire model, suspension height, brake package, alignment and vehicle tolerances. A physical test fit is recommended before production.

Custom Forged Wheels for the Mini E (2010)

Everything above is reference data. If you want wheels actually built to it, that is what ANKUSI does: we are a forged wheel factory in Guangzhou, China, IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 certified, forging on our own 10,000-ton press and producing over 120,000 wheels a year. Forging blank, CNC machining, finishing, coating and inspection all happen in the same building — nothing is subcontracted and nothing is relabelled from another manufacturer.

Every set is cut to order, so the 4x100 pattern and the 56.5mm centre bore are machined for this car specifically rather than shimmed with adaptor rings. Diameter, width, offset, concavity, monoblock or multi-piece construction and the finish are all yours to choose — most Mini orders on this platform land somewhere between the 17x7.5J ET38 flush setup and the 18x8J ET35 aggressive setup referenced above.

Designs we already tool for the 4x100 pattern — each one is re-cut to your sizes and offsets:

Frequently Asked Questions

What bolt pattern (PCD) does the Mini E use?
The 2010 Mini E uses a 4x100 bolt pattern.
How many lug bolts does the Mini E use?
The Mini E uses a 4-lug bolt pattern (4x100), so you need a 4-lug forged wheel to bolt straight on.
What is the center bore size on the Mini E?
The Mini E's center bore is 56.5mm. If an aftermarket wheel has a larger center bore than this, hub-centric rings are recommended so the wheel centers on the hub itself rather than relying on the lug bolts alone.
What size are the factory (stock) wheels on the Mini E?
Factory wheels on the Mini E are 16x6.5J at ET42.
What is the biggest wheel size I can fit on my Mini E without rubbing?
The most aggressive fitment we recommend without fender work is 18x8J at ET35 offset. Going beyond this typically causes rubbing under compression unless you roll the fenders or add camber correction.
What does a flush wheel fitment look like on the Mini E?
For a flush look with minimal to no rubbing, we recommend 17x7.5J at ET38 offset as a starting point on a stock or mildly lowered Mini E.
Do I need wheel spacers for my Mini E?
No. ANKUSI forges each wheel to your exact target offset, including the flush or max specs above, so you get the correct fitment without stacking spacers. Spacers are typically only used to push out an existing OE-offset wheel without replacing it, which isn't necessary when you're ordering a custom-offset forged wheel.
How do I calculate wheel backspacing for my Mini E?
Backspacing (in inches) = wheel width (in) ÷ 2 + offset (mm) ÷ 25.4 + 0.5 (flange allowance). For example, the flush spec above works out to roughly 5.75" of backspacing.
What's the difference between wheel offset and backspacing?
Offset is the distance in millimeters from the wheel's true centerline to its mounting face (positive offset pulls the wheel in, negative pushes it out). Backspacing is the distance in inches from the mounting face to the back edge of the wheel barrel. They describe the same fitment from two different reference points, which is why ANKUSI lists both above — some shops and tuning guides quote offset, others quote backspacing.
Can I run staggered wheels (different sizes front and rear) on my Mini E?
The Mini E runs the same wheel size front and rear from the factory, so staggered fitment is not required. ANKUSI can still forge a staggered set (wider rear) on request if you want a more aggressive stance.

Vehicles With the Same Hub as the Mini E (4x100, 56.5 mm Bore)

In our database, 6 other Mini entries use exactly the same 4x100 bolt pattern and 56.5 mm center bore. Factory wheels from these cars bolt on and center on the hub without rings; offset and width still have to be checked.

4x100 is used by 6.9% of the vehicle pages in our English fitment guide (451 of 6,503); 1.6% of those also use a 56.5 mm center bore.

Hub-Centric Rings for a 56.5 mm Center Bore

A wheel with a center bore larger than 56.5 mm needs a hub-centric ring. The most common combinations:

Wheel boreRing size
57.1 mm57.1 → 56.5 mm
60.1 mm60.1 → 56.5 mm
63.4 mm63.4 → 56.5 mm
64.1 mm64.1 → 56.5 mm
73.1 mm73.1 → 56.5 mm

ANKUSI forged wheels are bored to exactly 56.5 mm for this vehicle, so no ring is needed.
